PADI RESCUE DIVER COURSE

Begin your adventure under the waves

The PADI Rescue Diver Course is a crucial step in your diving education and at Sharks Bay Umbi Diving Village we highly recommend it to all divers. The course will expand your knowledge of diving as well as develop your awareness of other divers and, although the course is serious, it is also a lot of fun.

The Rescue Course will increase your knowledge of some of the more technical aspects of diving and teach you how to prevent and deal with diving emergencies. The course is performance based and involves both theoretical and practical exercises on how to handle diving incidents and self-rescue.

The in-water skills can safely and easily be taught in the calm Red Sea waters of our house reef.  You will complete five rescue training dives, up to a maximum depth of 30 meters, which will include open-water rescue scenarios.

The practical skills covered include:

  • Swimming and non-swimming assist
  • Panicked diver responses
  • Recognition and solution to underwater problems
  • Missing diver procedures
  • Surfacing the unconscious diver
  • In-water artificial respiration
  • Equipment removal and exiting the water
  • First aid for conscious and unconscious diver

The academic topics you will cover are:

  • Self rescue
  • Diver stress
  • Diving first aid
  • Emergency management
  • Equipment considerations
