The national currency is the Egyptian Pound (LE), 1 LE is equal to 100 piasters. The diving centre and hotel accept most international currencies as well as Visa, MasterCard and American Express (3% surcharge will be added to your bill) as do most places throughout Naama Bay and Sharm el Sheikh. There is an ATM on site at Sharks Bay and many located throughout the whole area. Travellers’ cheques can be cashed at the major banks.
Opening hours for Egyptian banks are generally from Sunday to Thursday: 09:00 – 14:00 and then from 18:00 – 21:00. For guests arriving into the country in Cairo the banks in the airport are open 24 hours a day and the banks at the port open whenever a ship docks.
