Divemaster

FREE ACCOMMODATION is offered in the View Huts, B&B, for all Divemaster courses.

Duration: 2 or 4 weeks

This is the first professional level in diver training and although it is possible to complete the course within two weeks we recommend that if you intend to work within the diving industry that you complete the four week course in order to gain as much experience as possible. If you wish to participate in the two week course then we advise that you read the Divemaster manual, complete the knowledge reviews and complete the diving knowledge study workbook with the aid of the diving encyclopaedia. Practising your in-water skills will also help.

What will I do?

The course is divided into three modules;

  • Your swimming ability and diving skills will be assessed as follows: timed swim test (with and without snorkel and fins), tired diver tow for a set distance, tread water for 15 minutes and rescue skills on the surface to establish your ability to deal with stress induced problems. A minimum score must be reached to pass the course.
  • Diving knowledge: topics covered include dive planning, dive control and management, supervision of students in water, diving physics, physiology, equipment, dive skills and environment and the recreational dive planner. You will complete written exams on each of these subjects where a minimum score must be achieved.
  • Practical application: you will take part in several confined and open water training sessions; you will also assist in further education courses such as Advanced, Rescue etc. You will shadow a qualified instructor or Divemaster on one of our boats learning how to guide and supervise divers in the water. The objective is to develop an awareness of typical student problems and learn how to supervise and control divers.
All students must complete a PADI Medical statement, Liability release form and Standard safe diving form prior to starting the course. If the student has any medical condition listed then signed clearance from a diving doctor, valid within 12 months will be required at check-in. It is mandatory for Divemaster students to have a full medical with our hyperbaric doctor in Sharm el Sheikh.
