Sharks Bay Umbi Diving Village was established in 1982 by Umbarak (known to everyone as Umbi), a very well-known Bedouin born and bred on the shores of the Red Sea here in South Sinai. His early days in the Sinai were spent as a fisherman and he soon began taking the first divers out on his small boat. With just one compressor and a camp-site on the shore of Sharks Bay the business soon began to develop and the first Bedouin home was created.
